INFRARED HEAT
Infrared radiation is really heat. Rub your palms together swiftly and put them to your cheeks and feel the heat. So, anything that is hot radiates infrared. If an object is not giving off light then it is giving off heat. On a cold night when you are bundled up under the blankets and your body is giving off heat, don’t you think it would be quite an experience if you were to give off light instead? Infrared is even given off by ice, cubes, so the scientists say. Nerve ending on your skin lets you know the temperature of things outside the body.
Infrared light shining of food in restaurants give off heat and keeps food warm. Some snakes are also able to detect infrared heat. Infrared heat is used for healing when the heat penetrates the body’s soft tissues. In infrared saunas and lamps, certain minerals that naturally emit infrared rays are used in the heating elements. They heat up when plugged into the electrical outlet and the radiation emitted is what allows the healing to take place. In an infrared sauna you are heated by infrared heat.
